Lady Antebellum Love the Twist of “Need You Now”

Lady Antebellum Love the Twist of “Need You Now”

The first time I watched the video for “Need You Now,” I was certain that singers Charles Kelley and Hillary Scott would end up in each other’s arms. Alas, it was not to be. “I love the twist at the end,” Scott said during a visit to CMT, when the band was asked why they chose that video treatment. “I think that was one of the clinchers for me, because we get asked all the time if Charles and I are dating — or if we are brothers and sisters, which is really weird, because we are definitely more brother-and-sister than obviously dating.”

But that’s not all: “I thought it was a cool way for me to kiss a boy in the video.”

“She picked the beefiest dude in there,” Kelley interjected. “He was doing push-ups in between takes, which was hilarious.”

Dave Haywood said that all three group members got to choose their own love interests. However, Kelley noted that his new wife can’t even watch the end of the video, when he puckers up with a hand-picked hottie: “It’s kind of a joke now because she looks over and goes, ‘Errrrr.’ It cracks me up. Like as if she’s never seen it, too. She goes, ‘Don’t you kiss him! Don’t you kiss him!’”
