Lady GaGa: “Speechless” at MOCA + Video Phone Pics + The Fame Monster Album Sampler

It was announced awhile ago that Lady GaGa would perform at the 30th anniversary gala for the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, California. Well last night was the night and GaGa took to the runway-like stage to perform the heartfelt ballad “Speechless,” from The Fame Monster, for the first time.

Theatrical of course, Lady GaGa sang the song that she wrote to beg her father to get the heart operation he so greatly needed. The song played its part in the persuasion of her father as he had the surgery and made a full recovery.

The song and performance was excellent. After seeing her do endless club anthems we started to forget the raw musical talent underneath all that visual. That GaGa really has a sweet soul and we admire her more for her love for her parents. When she was on Alexa Chung the other week she said the greatest advice she was told since gaining fame was, “No matter how many people adore and idolize you, at the end of the day you only have two parents.” That is so important to us… she’s such a sweetheart.

Also, a few still images from the “Video Phone” music video leaked onto the net a few days ago. After its delayed premiere MTV announced that it will premiere this Tuesday, the 17th. The day before (tomorrow, Monday the 16th) MTV will show 30 sec. clips from the video EVERY hour. If the video is exactly as long as the song then that’s 10 hours worth of previews; NICE!

The Fame Monster album sampler was made available yesterday. We can honestly say we enjoyed every single song. The only thing we have to say is although GaGa claims this is a brand new era for her musically it doesn’t seem so. Yes, the album promotional images are very different from when she first debuted and the lyrical content is a bit deeper BUT sonically, her music sounds the same. We’re not saying that’s a bad thing at all, FOR NOW, we just don’t see the great deal of difference to label this a whole new era.
