“Street Talking,” Meretto’s latest album, is brimming with an exciting blend of Indie, Rock and Experimental sounds combined with street-wise swagger and dewy eyed optimism, and has been mixed by ‘Dan Swift,’ renowned for working with the likes of ‘Snow Patrol,’ ‘Biffy Clyro,’ ‘Art Brut’ and ‘Aqualung’ to name a few. Tracks such as the recently released “Devotion” and “A Kiss” exhibit the uplifting side to the album which is then complimented by the passionate, energetic drum playing and original guitar riffs. “A Method of Urban Survival” showcases the darker side to the album and the bands experimentation with vocals. “Back to Me,” the closing tracks brings the album to a perfect end as it slows the pace down but doesn’t lose an ounce of passion. The tinge of electronic sounds helps to build up the momentum before the vocalist declares “You’ll be back to me” aided with confident, powerful chords.

September 2009 saw the release of the aforementioned single “Devotion” which garnered huge radio support from BBC Radio Berkshire, BFBS Radio, Sheffield Live and many, many more.

“Captivating…Definitely worth a listen!” Rock On The Web

Before joining forces with Stu (guitar and vocals) in 2003 to form Meretto, Matt (bass and vocals), elevating his affection for music, studied Music Tech in Newcastle where he was lectured by none other than ‘Martin McAloon,’ bass guitarist of beloved British pop band ‘Prefab Sprout’ who recently released their eighth studio album “Let’s Change The World with Music.” Stu, on the other hand, trained as a weather man alongside present BBC weather presenter ‘Tomasz Schafernaker’ but turned his back on a future BBC career realising that his true passion rested in being a part of Meretto.

A move to London to chase the dream inspired their debut album “Chainsaw Art,” produced by renowned producer ‘John Mitchell,’ known for working with artists such as ‘It Bites’, ‘Kino’, ‘Arena’ and ‘The Urbane’ and released in 2005. Steve, now Meretto’s drummer, met Stu and Matt after having regular sessions with John Mitchell’s band, ‘Kino.’

“Meretto mix the verbose vitriol of early ‘Manics’, the taut energy of ‘At The Drive-In’, add a slug of pop sensibilities and shake it all up with their own secret ingredient to give us something new and tasty.” Independent Sound UK

Through the success of their previous releases, Meretto receive regular invites to play at prestigious venues across the UK including ‘The Barfly,’ ’93 Feet East,’ ‘Tommy Flynns,’ ‘Bull and Gate’ in London and ‘The Dry Bar’ as well as playing alongside ex ‘Inspiral Carpets’ Tom Hingley at The Fly. Upcoming live dates see Meretto invited back to ‘The Monto Water Rats’ in London and an album release launch party to be held confirmed soon. 2010 will be brimming with live appearances from this phenomenal live band as invitations from festival organisers to play at a host of summer festivals are already starting to flood through, with dates soon to be announced.
