Lady Sovereign spent an evening in Australian jail this weekend. Her detainment came after a visit to a gay nightclub in Brisbane, where an argument with the venue’s bouncer ended with Sovereign spitting at the doorman. Police later arrested the singer for assault and disorderly conduct, two charges that she later disputed via Twitter. [NME.com]

Robbie Williams reportedly spent his weekend in a New York City studio alongside his former band, Take That. Williams originally left the group in 1995 and embarked on a lucrative solo career, although his recent work has paled in comparison to Take That’s past two releases. Williams’ newest solo album will hit stores in November, prompting some to wonder whether his weekend recording session with Take That was motivated by nostalgia or headline-hungry business savvy. After pulling their videos from YouTube in December 2008, Warner Music Group has agreed to a deal that will bring the label’s videos back to the website. Warner may also join forces with Vevo, a streaming video outlet founded in April by YouTube and Universal Records. [RollingStone.com]

Lucy O’Donnell, the real-life inspiration behind the Beatles’ “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds,” has died at the age of 46. John Lennon’s oldest son, Julian, resumed contact with O’Donnell several months ago, having heard from mutual friends that his old classmate was battling lupus. [Telegraph.co.uk]

“Who Says,” the first single from John Mayer’s forthcoming Battle Studies, mixes acoustic guitar with laid back, campfire-worthy vocals. Mayer recently premiered the track on his website, nearly two months before Battle Studies’s mid-November release date. [RollingStone.com]

Members of the Fixx, the Gin Blossoms, the Stray Cats, and Squeeze will scale Mt. Kilimanjaro this month as part of Kilimanjaro Rocks, a 12-day trek to the mountain’s summit. The event — which combines music, fundraising, and (we assume) a good deal of sweat — aims to raise awareness for cancer care in East Africa. [CMJ.com]
