Prince

The Purple One is so done with this online shit.

Pop icon Prince has declared the end of the Internet, banning his music from iTunes and YouTube and even closing his official website.

In a new interview with London’s The Mirror, the 52-year-old pop legend behind hits like “When Doves Cry,” Purple Rain and “1999″ compares the internet with music channel MTV, previously hip but now outdated.

“The Internet’s completely over. I don’t see why I should give my new music to iTunes or anyone else. They won’t pay me an advance for it and then they get angry when they can’t get it,” Prince said. “The Internet’s like MTV. At one time MTV was hip and suddenly it became outdated. Anyway, all these computers and digital gadgets are no good. They just fill your head with numbers and that can’t be good for you.”

Prince — who has released over 30 albums during his career — said he is always eager to find new ways to distribute his music, he has stopped iTunes from selling his tracks.

“I don’t see why I should give my new music to iTunes or anyone else,” he explained. “They won’t pay me an advance for it and then they get angry when they can’t get it.”

The ‘”Purple Rain” singer – who releases his new album 20TEN for free in the UK this Saturday, July 10 –through a promotion with the Daily Mirror newspaper – remarked: “Music is my life. It’s my trade. If I can’t get it out of my head I can’t function. Someone told me recently they saw me at my peak, but how do they know when my peak is? I think I’m improving all the time. When I listen to my old records I’m ashamed of how I played them.”
