We love Jazmine Sullivan and, man, do we ever love Missy Elliot. Both of these R&B queens have been too quiet recently, so we’re thrilled to bring you a new Jazmine jam, “Holding You Down,” produced by Missy Misdemeanor.
This one is a summer jam, kids. It fits in as well this summer as it would have in the summer of 1988, full of DJ scratches, Slick Rick samples and featuring the legendary drum break from “Impeach The President.” Missy’s nostalgic production is definitely ear-catching, but Jazmine is the star of the show, putting herself through the wringer over a relationship she just can’t get right.
