Rock group Paramore new album Brand New Eyes looks like to be #1 next week on the Top 200 Albums on Billboard charts selling 190,000 copies of their new album after 1 day. This might come as a shocker for many folks cause everybody thought Mariah Carey would take the #1 spot on the Billboard Top 200 charts, but she won’t. The band gives them an edge over Island/IDJ diva Mariah Carey’s Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, which is now on target to sell 160,000 copies of her terrible album. With a question as to how front-loaded those sales for Paramore are, Carey could close the edge if she has a brisk weekend, but predictors doubt that will happen. Those two are among the five top debuts next week, all registering in six-figures numbers, including Columbia legend Barbra Streisand’s Love is the Answer (150,000 -160,000 copies), Hollywood rockers Breaking Benjamin (140,000-150,000 copies) and Virgin/EMI’s retooled grunge gods Alice in Chains (130,000-140,000 copies). Columbia Nashville country darling Miranda Lambert’s Revolution heads the other newcomers, with a total approaching 65,000- 70,000 copies WB Material Gal Madonna’s Celebration greatest hits album is in the 60,000 to 70,000 range, as is Interscope goth-punks AFI’s Crash Love. Disney’s latest Hollywood Records crossover cable TV teen star Selena Gomez & The Scene is looking at first-week sales of 50,000 to 60,000 copies Rock on Roll Hall of Famers Lynyrd Skynyrd’s latest, God and Guns, on Roadrunner’s Loud and Proud label, looks for an opening week total of 30,000 to 40,000 copies. These are just predictions after 1 day and all of these albums will be landing somewhere on the Billboard chart next week when the official result comes in next Wednesday. But for now it seems like Paramore will be #1, Barbra Streisand #2, and Mariah Carey #3 or even #4. Comments/Thoughts
