Keith Urban - Kiss A Girl Lyrics

To kiss and tell
It’s just not my style.
But the night is young,
And it’s been a while.
And she broke my heart,
Broke it right in two.
And it’s fixing time,
But I’m feeling like I’m finally ready to
Find, find somebody new.
I wanna Kiss A Girl,
I wanna hold her tight,
And maybe make a little magic in the moonlight.
Don’t wanna go too far
Just to take it slow,
But I shouldn’t be lonely in this big ol’ world.
I wanna kiss a girl.

It’s that moment when
You start closing in.
First you’re holding back,
Then surrendering.
It can start a fire,
Light up the sky.
Such a simple thing,
Do you wanna try?
Are you ready to
Say goodbye
To all these blues?
I wanna kiss a girl,
I wanna hold her tight,
And maybe make a little magic in the moonlight.
Don’t wanna go too far
Just to take it slow,
But I shouldn’t be lonely in this big ol’ world.
I wanna kiss a girl.

‘Cause, baby, tonight
It could turn into the rest of our lives.
Oh yeah.
Are you ready?
(Are you ready?)
Are you ready
(Are you ready)
To cross that yellow line?
Put your lips on mine.
Put your lips on mine, baby.

Do you wanna try?
Are you ready to
Say goodbye
To all these blues?

I wanna kiss a girl,
I wanna hold her tight,
And maybe make a little magic, baby.
Don’t wanna go too far
Just to take it slow,
I don’t want to be lonely,
I shouldn’t be lonely.
I wanna kiss a girl,
I wanna hold her tight,
And maybe make a little magic in the moonlight.
Don’t wanna go too far
Just to take it slow,
But I shouldn’t be lonely in this big ol’ world.
I wanna kiss a girl.

I said I wanna kiss a girl.
Whoa-ho whoa-ho
I wanna kiss a girl.
I wanna hold her tight,
I wanna make a little magic
Out under the moonlight.

Oooh I wanna kiss a girl.

Keith Urban tries to protect his daughter from cameras

Keith Urban understands that paparazzi come along with the fame, but he draws a line when it comes to his infant daughter.

“I’m as protective of my family as any father and husband can be. It can be just a bit intrusive, you know,” he said in a recent interview. “It’s just a reality. I understand the society we live in. It’s a bit odd at times in that regard.”

Urban and his wife, Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman, had their first child, Sunday Rose, last July. He said the couple, who live in Nashville, do “what we can to keep (Sunday Rose) safe, because she didn’t choose to come into this lifestyle.

“It’s just what her mother and I do, so we do what we can to try and keep some civility about the whole thing.”

Urban’s new album, “Defying Gravity,” produced the No. 1 country hit “Sweet Girl,” and the second single, “Kiss a Girl,” is No. 6 on the Billboard country chart. On Thursday, Urban kicks off his Escape Together World Tour in Uncasville, Conn.

The 41-year-old says the toughest part of touring is being away from his family. So he’s making adjustments.

His tour bus is set up so they can travel with him as much as possible, and he’s structured the schedule so he gets to go home frequently between shows.

“I love having them. I love when the girls are here,” he said.

Urban is using a number of opening acts, including Sugarland, Taylor Swift, Jason Aldean, Lady Antebellum, Dierks Bentley, The Zac Brown Band and Country Music Hall of Famer Glen Campbell.

Campbell, 73, was an early influence on him when he was growing up in Australia. He calls Campbell’s latest album, “Meet Glen Campbell,” on which the veteran star covers songs by the likes of Green Day and Tom Petty, “killer good.”

“I fell in love with the record and reached out to see if he could come out and play with us,” Urban said.

Keith Urban livid about Rolling Stone story by Ethan Hawke

Keith Urban livid about Rolling Stone story by Ethan Hawke

Ethan Hawke might want to avoid crossing paths with Toby Keith in the near future.

The country star lit into the actor for an article Hawke wrote in the new issue of Rolling Stone about Kris Kristofferson. In it, Hawke refers to a blowup Kristofferson had with an unnamed country star back in 2003 that sounds a lot like Toby Keith.

But a furious Keith, speaking backstage at the Academy of Country Music Awards, said it wasn’t true, and added that Hawke did not name him in the story because he did not want to face him later.

“I don’t know Ethan Hawke. Ethan Hawke wanted to do some kind of superficial Rolling Stone article. And he did everything he could to make his story the greatest story ever in Rolling Stone,” Keith said. “And it was a fictitious (expletive) lie. O.K?

“He didn’t even call me by my name. … He called Norah Jones, Ray Charles, everybody else by name. Willie (Nelson), Kris (Kristofferson). Why didn’t he call my name? Why didn’t he say Toby Keith walked through and said this (expletive)? Right? You know why. You know why. You know as good as anybody why. He didn’t want to (expletive) deal with the aftermath.”

In the story, Hawke claimed he witnessed the confrontation backstage at Nelson’s tribute concert for his 70th birthday at the Beacon Theatre in New York. The article does not name Keith but says it was a country singer who “had a monster hit about bombing America’s enemies back into the stone age.” In 2002, Keith had the song “Courtesy of the Red, White & Blue (The Angry American)” that threatened retribution for the 9/11 attacks.

Hawke said the argument began with the “Star” telling Kristofferson: “None of that lefty (expletive) out there tonight, Kris.”

Hawke said Kristofferson then angrily confronted and asked him if he had ever served in the military.

“Have you ever killed another man? Huh? Have you ever taken another man’s life and then cashed the check your country gave you for doing it? No, you have not, so shut the (expletive) up,” Hawke recounted Kristofferson as saying. “You don’t know what the hell you are talking about.”

A spokeswoman for Hawke did not immediately return a message seeking comment. A Rolling Stone spokeswoman said that the magazine fully stands by the story and Hawke’s reporting.

Keith directed his anger Sunday not only at Hawke but at a reporter from the Tennessean who wrote about the Hawke article and asked Keith about it backstage.

Kristofferson, in a statement, said he did not recall the incident and tried to be diplomatic to all sides.

“I would like to state for the record that I am friends with Ethan Hawke, Toby Keith and Tennessean reporter Peter Cooper. Although I do not remember the events at Willie’s birthday party as reported in Rolling Stone, what does it matter?” he asked. “That was six years ago. I spoke to Ethan before I put out my statement and thanked him for the beautiful story he wrote for Rolling Stone and I also told him I did not recall the incident at Willie’s birthday party. This is the last statement I will put out about this nonsense.”

Update: Prince, Keith Urban Vie For No. 1

New albums from Keith Urban and Prince are on track to debut high on the Billboard 200 chart next week, with each artist’s latest release aiming for a start in the neighborhood of 150,000 copies and a shot at No. 1.

Industry prognosticators suggest Urban’s “Defying Gravity” (Capitol Nashville) may shift somewhere in the range of 150,000-160,000 in its first week, while Prince’s Target-exclusive “LotusFlow3r” (NPG) could sell between 140,000-150,000.

If Urban debuts at No. 1, he’ll earn his first chart-topper on the Billboard 200. He’s hit No. 3 twice previously with 2004’s “Be Here” and 2006’s “Love, Pain and the Whole Crazy Thing.” If Prince reigns atop the list, it’ll be his fifth No. 1.

Prince and Urban respectively lead Nielsen SoundScan’s Building Chart, which was released today (April 1). We’ll have a better gauge on how next week’s official Billboard 200 chart will shake out on April 3, when SoundScan releases its next Building Chart.

Billboard estimates the seven merchants who report to Nielsen SoundScan’s Building chart — Trans World Entertainment, Best Buy, iTunes, Starbucks, Borders, Target and Anderson Merchandisers — comprise about 60% of all U.S. album sales.

Other albums looking good for a top 10 debut on next week’s Billboard 200 chart include UGK’s “UGK For Life” (UGK/Jive/JLG), Diana Krall’s “Quiet Nights” (Verve) and Flo Rida’s “R.O.O.T.S.” (Poe Boy/Atlantic).

Nielsen SoundScan’s sales tracking week, as reflected in the official Billboard 200 chart, runs from Monday through Sunday of each week. The newest Billboard 200 chart, released today — where the “Now 30″ compilation debuted at No. 1 with 146,000 — reflected the week that ended on March 29.

Keith Urban - Defying Gravity

“Early in his fifth solo album, Keith Urban sings that “I’ve got nothing left to prove,” and he may be right. His blend of undeniable hooks, tasteful songcraft and hot guitar licks has justifiably made him the kind of country superstar who can get the pop side of the crowd rocking, too. But Urban hardly rests on his laurels on “Defying Gravity,” trying some interesting new directions: The martial rhythm that closes “If Ever I Could Love,” the Jimmy Buffett-style Caribbean groove of “Why’s It Feel So Long,” the atmospherics of the sentimental ” ‘Til Summer Comes Around.” Beyond the rehab and relationship issues that fueled 2006’s “Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy Thing,” Urban channels contentment and happiness, mashing up guitars and banjo on “Kiss a Girl,” tearing through bassist Jerry Flowers’ “Hit the Ground Runnin’,” delivering an ace cover of Radney Foster’s “I’m In” and finding a kissin’ cousin to the Eagles’ “Take It Easy” on “Sweet Thing.” —Gary Graff”

Keith Urban’s ‘Defying Gravity’ Set To Soar

Keith Urban's 'Defying Gravity' Set To Soar

Keith Urban’s ‘Defying Gravity’ Set To Soar

Keith Urban says that his new album, “Defying Gravity,” represents a prolific period that followed his last release, 2006’s double-platinum “Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy Thing.”

“I felt a lot of clarity in making this record,” Urban, who co-produced his fifth studio album with Dan Huff, tells Billboard.com. “I was just ready to go in and make great music. It had been two years since I did ‘Love, Pain & the Whole Cray Thing,’ and since that record we toured so much, and I came into a phase where I was just writing a lot of music.

“It was a real creative time, and I was just anxious to get in the studio and try to capture it all.”

Urban’s first attempt to do that didn’t go well, however. He hit the studio in the middle of 2008 for some “preliminary recording” but acknowledges that “none of that stuff really ended up on the record.” But, Urban adds, he wasn’t worried about it.

“I just don’t like doing demos, I think,” he explains. “I’m not trying to recapture magic; I like to create a song in a much more organic process. I like to keep everything very spontaneous, and I think it’s a much stronger record because of that approach.”

“Defying Gravity” is certainly off to a strong start. The album’s first single, “Sweet Thing,” made a fast dash to the top of the Hot Country Songs chart — his third No. 1 in the past 12 months. A second single, “Kiss a Girl,” is also in the Top 20, and Urban did double duty at this year’s Grammy Awards, performing with Al Green and Justin Timberlake and then as part of a  Bo Diddley tribute with B.B. King, Buddy Guy and John Mayer. Urban is also up for three Academy of Country Music Awards on Sunday, including Entertainer of the Year.

Urban plays a trio of small-venue shows to launch “Defying Gravity” starting Monday in Chicago. He kicks off a tour to support “Defying Gravity” on May 7 in Uncasville, Conn.

“I think (the tour is) going to be a blast,” Urban says, “particularly because I’m going to put a lot of songs from this album into the set because it’s a predominantly uptempo record, which makes for a great live show. And hopefully we’ll try to up the production. I’m always trying for more connectiveness with the audience. I’m trying to get down among the audience and have them feel like they’re part of the thing, and to keep it spontaneous every night because everybody tends to like surprises. That’s my job.”

Keith Urban has christened his new album “Defying Gravity” and, as previously reported, will release it March 31 on Capitol Nashville.

First single “Sweet Thing” rises 12-8 this week on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, Urban’s 18th top 10 hit there.

Urban says the title phrase “comes from the lyrics of a song on the album and it just struck me at the time as a phrase that really defined the joyous, optimistic and uplifting spirit that seemed to show itself while making the album.”

The artist will begin an extensive North American tour in May, with a rotating crew of support acts that will include Sugarland, Taylor Swift, Jason Aldean, Lady Antebellum, the Zac Brown Band and Dierks Bentley.
