Mariah Carey feat Gucci Mane - Obsessed Remix

Mariah Carey feat Gucci Mane - Obsessed Remix - Gucci Mane does an admirable job on the remix, and while the remix won’t get mainstream radio spins (could still get Urban or Rhythmic spins) I still prefer this version to the original. (Be sure to listen to the very end when Gucci Mane says “Me and Mariah got back like Oscar Meyer” in an O.D.B. rip off. 7/10

Mariah Carey - Obsessed

Mariah Carey - Obsessed - Obviously when Mariah Carey drops her first single off a new album, it’s gonna get a ton of radio spins and other action. It’s gonna be a huge hit, but I prefer Mariah ballads to tracks like this. 6/10

Mariah Carey, Usher Announce New Album Titles

In separate announcements yesterday (May 20), both Mariah Carey and Usher announced the titles of their forthcoming albums.

Carey, who maintains an active presence on Twitter and has over 400,000 followers, made the announcement in a mid-day tweet.

“Bcuz I Love U, I want u to be the first to know the title of my new album “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel” Its very personal & dedicated to u,” she wrote.  Carey also revealed on Twitter that she is working with Timbaland on the record.

The album is due in the fall, according to her label representative, but no further official information is yet available.

Usher’s announcement was less dramatic.  A one sentence press release distributed in the afternoon read, “Usher has just announced ‘Monster’ as the title for upcoming new album to be released fall 2009.”

Eminem Says Nick Cannon Misinterpreted Mariah Carey Dis

Eminem Says Nick Cannon Misinterpreted Mariah Carey Dis

‘What I actually meant to say is, I wish them the best,’ Em says of ‘Bagpipes From Baghdad’ lyrics

Is Eminem taking the high road? As odd as it seems, that’s what the rapper did in answer to Nick Cannon’s furious blog post responding to Em’s apparent dis of Mariah Carey in a new track. Well, he’s sort of taking the high road. He still is Slim Shady after all.

During an interview with BBC Radio 1 host Tim Westwood on Saturday, Eminem explained the song that sparked the ire of Carey’s husband.

“With the song ‘Bagpipes From Baghdad,’ I kinda spazzed out on that record, but I guess I spazzed out on every record,” Em told Westwood of the Relapse track. “There’s a line on there that was a little harsh. It’s a harsh line. … But it’s like this, the way I look at it: I had no idea he was gonna take it like he took it. I had no idea Nick Cannon was gonna start wildin’ out on me. No pun intended.”

Possibly in jest, Em said his lyrics — which include the lines, “Nick Cannon better back the f— up. I’m not playing, I want her back, you punk,” and, “Nick Cannon, you pr—, I wish you luck with that f—in’ whore” — were misinterpreted. The rapper downplayed the situation, and his level tone seemed to be an attempt to diffuse any tension between himself and Cannon.

After hearing the leaked song, Cannon wrote a long, scathing post, calling the song “an act of racist bigotry” and threatening Eminem, “I’m going to make you wish you never spoke my name and regret the ungodly things you said about my wife.”

Eminem admitted that he hadn’t read Cannon’s blog post but got wind of the message.

“I heard about some of the things he was saying,” Em said. “I didn’t read his blog or anything. But it is what it is. He’s supposed to defend his wife, and I expected him to do that. But at the end of the day, it’s a line I said; it’s a song. What I actually meant to say is, I wish them the best. That’s what I meant to say. That’s the whole message of the record.

Asked how he’d feel about facing Cannon in a rap battle, Eminem didn’t take the bait.

“I didn’t plan on taking it to that level,” Em said. “Hopefully, it doesn’t. But it is what it is.”

Nick Cannon Fires Back At Eminem Over Mariah Carey Dis

Who is probably the only person in the world who can erase a smile off the always good-natured face of Nick Cannon? One guess. He’s known as rap’s Mr. No-Holds-Barred: Eminem.

Cannon has taken major offense to a leaked record from Em’s Relapse, “Bagpipes From Baghdad,” in which Em raps about taking Mariah Carey “back” from Nick Cannon. (Carey has denied Eminem’s claims that they dated for six months.)

“Nick Cannon better back the f— up,” Em warns the actor/musician on the track. “I’m not playing, I want her back, you punk.”

Later in the song, Em leaves a parting salvo: “Nick Cannon, you pr—, I wish you luck with that f—in’ whore.”

Cannon had a millions things to say in response on his blog on Friday.

“A mediocre (at best) Eminem record that sounds like it was written in 2001,” Cannon blogged. “At first, I thought it was old material that had been dug up from when dude ‘fantasized’ about having a pretend fling with Mariah. … But all of a sudden I hear my name in the verse! My first reaction was like, ‘This is his new sh–? Wow, that’s too bad.’ ”

Cannon said that Eminem’s insults amounted to “racist bigotry.” “She has had enough difficulty in her life dealing with racial and ethnicity issues,” he wrote. “Believe it or not, Mariah is the same racial mixture as our beloved president, Barack Obama. (Black Father + White Mother= BLACK)

“Maybe I’m going too far, but I thought we got past the days where white men could spew vulgar obscenities at our beautiful queens and get away with it,” Cannon continued. “What’s next? Are we going to let this trash say something horrible about our lovely first lady, Mrs. Michelle Obama? Or would Marshall have talked sideways out of his neck like this about Oprah Winfrey? This act of racist bigotry cannot go unnoticed. Calling my wife a ‘c—’ and a ‘whore’ is way worse than anything Don Imus could have ever said. So trust, repercussions will be served. Anybody got Al Sharpton’s number?! LOL Let’s not forget about Eminem’s amateur mixtape rants of calling African Americans ‘ni—-’ and how he hates ‘black bi—es.’ ”

The actor basically vowed revenge on Slim Shady, joking that he would begin rapping again and threatening comedic retribution.

“So, Miss Marshall, I’m going to make you wish you never spoke my name and regret the ungodly things you said about my wife,” Cannon continued. “This is going to be fun! It’s however you want it! Just remember, you did this to yourself! Your legacy has now been tainted from this day forth! You will now be known as the rapper who lost to corny-ass Nick Cannon!”

Mariah Carey: Why Hubby Nick Cannon Made Her Cry

Happy Anniversary, Mariah and Nick!

Mimi and the hubby celebrated their first year of marital bliss last night in Las Vegas.

Read on to find out what they did, where they were doing it, and why Mariah cried!

Carey, wearing a floor-length white gown, and a tux-clad Cannon kicked things off with dinner for about 50 people at Simon at Palms Place. The comfort-food menu included surf and turf, macaroni and cheese and mashed potatoes, followed by crème brûlée and chocolate-chip cookies for dessert.

The party then headed over to Moon nightclub, where Cannon surprised his wife, who had changed into a pink Georges Chakra couture minidress, with a video montage highlighting moments from the past year. According to People mag, Carey was brought to tears.

If the dessert back at the restaurant wasn’t enough, the couple then served up a five-tier Duncan Hines yellow cake.

Cannon was also put to work: He actually deejayed the party. Guess Mariah may not be his sugar mama after all.
